We are a sonic branding & music marketing collective made up of people passionate about music and how things sound.

We have a blend of wise old heads and wise young heads across the globe combining a unique blend of consumer research, music marketing, brand strategy, social media strategy, music search and sonic composition.

For four years, we have helped brands and their agencies better understand how people hear their brand and help musicians, managers and labels shape more profitable brand strategies.

We are a lean and flexible little collective, bringing on the right talent whenever you need it. So you pay for the talent , not the flowers in the nice reception.

The founder of citizensound is Paul Bay. Previously Director of Consumer Communications for Levi Strauss Europe, based in Brussels. His favourite music moment at Levi’s was when the brand helped to re-form the three surviving members of the MC5 (Lemmy, Dave Vanian and Mani on stage along with them at the 100 Club – what a gig!). Previously Paul held various senior European & Global positions roles at a number of advertising and media agencies in the UK and Europe, including M&CSaatchi and Leo Burnett. Aside from citizensound, Paul also advises companies on changing their approach to marketing (via citizenbay), lectures at universities and has been asked by the UTalk Marketing and the uber-cool HyperIsland to guest lecture on digital.

Paul Martin has been helping artists develop their sound for over 20 years. He was Label Manager and Head of A&R for Talkin Loud for 10 years – signing Roni Size Reprazent, the 1997 winners of the Mercury Music Prize. He has also worked as an A&R manager at both Gut records and V2, as well as releasing his own music as Interfearence.
